Tsmis From The Woonkamer
In Search of DutchLand is a blog that chronicles and romanticizes my lost of sanity expatriation to the Netherlands. My immigration to The Netherlands is a consequence of a modern day, love at first sight, trans-Atlantic romance with Bram, a Dutch native . This blog is a refuge that attempts to illustrate my waking up to a “Dutched” reality complete with personal observations of cultural idiosyncrasies, narcissistic ramblings, and lingering homesickness. In Search of DutchLand is also a heartfelt attempt at keeping my loved ones far away informed about my near-daily life.
Originally made in the Philippines, raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, cultivated in Berkeley, and briefly seasoned in Philadelphia, I find myself determined to materialize the lucid American dream in “Europe”. Armed only with my supposed intellect and dependable MacBook Pro, I clumsily navigate through a foreign land and the inevitable quarter-life crisis. What is not lost in translation is my love for the DutchBoy(my one and only Nonoy), moderate type-A mentality, undying faith, and pagasa.
Update: With my impending nuptials in August 2010, I will be writing more about my own experiences as an overseas bride. Everyone knows that wedding planning is incredibly time consuming and stressful. Throw in the challenges of living in a foreign country and planning a wedding in one’s hometown (San Francisco Bay Area) and one get’s plenty of material to write about.
